Global chemical and environmental regulations play a vital role in every stage of a product’s lifecycle, from development and manufacturing to usage and disposal. At Roche Pharma Technical Operations, we are uniting our expertise and expanding our capabilities to ensure strong compliance with these important regulations.

The Opportunity:

Join the Roche Pharma Environmental & Chemical Regulations team to ensure product compliance with environmental regulations and enhance their sustainability performance. You'll gain experience working in a dynamic, international, cross-functional team, learning about the intersection of pharmaceutical manufacturing with sustainability.
Your role includes supporting the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Lead in conducting LCA analyses and providing sustainability insights to product teams. You will manage LCA data projects to improve the quality and representativity of assessments and assist in optimizing and streamlining LCA analyses.

Ideal candidates should have knowledge of LCA, be adept at data collection and organization, and communicate information effectively.

Key Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Perform LCA analyses of pharmaceutical products and processes
  • Conduct data collection and modelling in tailored project
  • Assist in optimizing and streamlining LCA analyses and communication
  • Support the LCA Lead in providing sustainability insights to product teams

Who You are:

  • You are enrolled or have completed your Master’s studies at a university within the past 12 months prior to the start date, preferably in the field of Environmental Science or any other STEM field including LCA in its curriculum.
  • Precise and structured approach to data management
  • Proactive and good communication skills
  • Knowledge of visualization software such as Tableau is a plus
  • Critical thinker and passionate, Team player
  • Ability to work in cross-functional and international teams
  • Excellent spoken and written English, German is a plus

Furthermore, You are/ You have:

  • Life Cycle Assessment: theoretical and applied knowledge
  • Conducted at least one LCA analysis, including data collection, modelling and impact assessment
  • Experience with an LCA Software, preferably Simapro, and the ecoinvent database
  • Experience with modelling of chemical retrosynthesis, energy systems, biochemical processes is an advantage but not a requirement

  • Due to regulations, non-EU/EFTA citizens must provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents, and must be continuously enrolled in their university program for the whole duration of this internship.
