The Position
Within “Synthetic Molecules Technical Development” the Process Analytical Technology (PAT) group is responsible for the implementation of PAT tools to support a fast and effective drug substance and drug product process development of our pipeline projects.We are also developing and validating PAT procedures for Real Time Release Testing (RTRT) and support novel technology platforms with dedicated PAT solutions.
In our pursuit of novel technology, we have identified Terahertz spectroscopy as a promising PAT tool to correlate with tablet dissolution parameters. The primary objective of this project is to demonstrate the feasibility of this technology for implementing RTRT in tablet dissolution.This internship offers an opportunity to work with Terahertz technology and includes performing laboratory activities such as tablet disintegration, dissolution testing, and other tablet evaluations.
As an intern you will support both the PAT and Analytical Research & Development (ARD) department in evaluating the potential of this technology.
The Opportunity:
- Review of the relevant literature applicable to the project
- Training in relevant SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and analytical equipment
- Terahertz measurements of the selected formulations
- Disintegration/Dissolution testing of oral solid dosage forms (tablets) and correlation with the Terahertz data
- Regular discussion of project progress with supervisors and planning of next steps
- Writing of final report
Who you are:
You are a student (or recently graduated) preferably in the subject of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and have an interest in technical and analytical issues. Furthermore, you are interested in using and sharing your knowledge as part of your Internship in a modern working environment. Your further profile for this position:
- Reliable and accurate working style in a non-GMP environment
- Team-oriented and decision-making personality
- Self-sufficient, problem solving-oriented work habits
- Good knowledge of MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Hands-on laboratory experience, specifically in performing spectroscopic measurements.
- Data & modeling skills (e.g. chemometric modeling, multivariate data analysis)
- Matlab/Python/R/C++ programming skills &; high affinity to digital tools
- Proficiency in English and German is a plus
This internship opportunity is one of a number of positions we offer in the department per semester and is not suitable for writing a Bachelor/Master/Diploma thesis.
The interviews will take place on an interview day with all considered candidates and the whole department.
