Head of Research - Digital Assets

The Head of Research will be responsible for leading and developing a high-caliber research function, deeply integrated into our investment and strategic decision-making processes. This individual will serve as a key partner to the CIO, ensuring that data-driven insights and market intelligence shape the firm’s digital asset strategy.

The role will also actively support the capital raising strategy of the firm, targeting exclusively institutional clientele, in North America, expanding to China and other relevant Asian markets. This is a senior leadership role that demands deep sector expertise, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to bridge traditional and decentralized finance frameworks.

Responsibilities
  • Design and lead the firm’s research strategy to align with business goals and digital market trends.
  • Oversee the production of actionable research on digital assets, blockchain infrastructure, tokenomics, and macroeconomic implications.
  • Evaluate and model market trends using quantitative frameworks and financial/statistical tools.
  • Guide investment teams through structured analysis, investment theses, and data validation.
  • Monitor and integrate global regulatory developments into risk and opportunity assessments.
  • Develop proprietary research infrastructure using modern technologies and analytical platforms.
  • Build and maintain thought leadership and relationships across venture funds, academia, regulatory bodies, and institutional capital.
  • Contribute to governance discussions and potentially grow into the Chief Investment O?cer (CIO) position.
  • Support and contribute to the firm’s capital raising strategy in North America and Asia.
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
  • Demonstrable leadership experience within North American pension plan investment organizations is essential. The successful candidate will have managed or advised large-scale institutional portfolios, including direct experience with liquid and venture capital digital asset strategies.
  • Experience in creating and launching investment mandates and building research teams for institutional-grade global investors.
  • University degrees in Financial Mathematics, Computer Science and Economics is required.
A combination of finance and technical expertise is necessary to succeed in this role. At least 6–8 years of professional experience within digital assets, blockchain ecosystems, or technology investing. Strong familiarity with venture capital, on-chain analytics, and decentralized finance mechanisms is expected.

A strong network across crypto-native venture capital, protocol developers, and institutional finance communities.

  • Proven ability to lead the development of investment frameworks, apply statistical methodologies, and engage in high-level macroeconomic analysis. Track record of delivering performance-oriented research is a must.
  • Experience navigating global macro events and market volatility using a research- based approach.
  • Proficiency in data tools and following programming languages Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and HTML/CSS
  • Demonstrable examples of having developed blockchain-based applications
