In the role as Junior Agriculture Underwriter, you will support the Agriculture Team based in Zurich and London to analyse and review agriculture reinsurance applications from all around the world. You will provide the team with insights on existing and potential markets.You will have the opportunity to prepare for and attend client meetings with your fellow underwriters. What will you do in this role?- Prepare and attend client meetings along with underwriters in the team
- Provide additional insights on existing and potential clients and markets by conducting your own analysis
- Be involved in the negotiation with business partners which falls within the agreed level of underwriting authority
- Assist and perform pricings of underwriting programs
- Maintain the unit’s workflow as well as managing pricing requests and underwriting/actuary deadlines.
- Monitor and coordinate with UAs, technical accounting, claims and reserving departments to evaluate the performance of business, including premium collections, claims payments and loss estimates.
- In coordination with actuarial teams, develop new models and/or evaluate vendor models for new regions and products.
You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.
About You:

Qualifications and Technical Skills- Master University degree or similar, preferably in Natural or Agriculture Science
- 0-2 years’ work experience within the
- Re/insurance industry or
- Agriculture industry as agriculture economist/engineer
- Knowledge in the use of probabilistic and statistical risk evaluation techniques. Any additional technical skills, like programing, database skills and financial risk modelling are a plus
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines on a consistent basis, with overtime required during heavy renewal periods. Be prepared to work at unusual day times due to time zones differences.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. Any additional language skills are a plus (especially Spanish or Portuguese)

Role Factors:
In this role, you will typically be required to be in the office 3-4 days per week.
