Are you an experienced and motivated Civil Engineering Technical Engineer, with a passion for about construction sites? Do you thrive on delivering high-quality results across a wide range of project in collaboration with highly skilled technicians?

If so, join an agile and dynamic team of talented civil engineers and technicians within the most unique particle physics laboratory in the world: CERN. Take part! You will join the Civil Engineering section (CE), within the Site Asset Management (SAM) Group, in charge of the operation, maintenance, design, tendering and execution of buildings and infrastructure.

Functions

As Civil Engineering Technical Engineer, you will:

  • Collect, prioritise, and process work requests from users and managers.
  • Contribute to defining technical proposals based on user requirements for constructions projects, modifications and renovation, mainly focused on interior works.
  • Draw up technical specifications and all relevant documents for quotations by external contractors.
  • Monitor works, including cost, quality, schedule, and safety, ensuring compliance until final acceptance by users.
  • Coordinate with other CERN services for electrical, plumbing, heating works, etc.
  • Act as contract manager for the wooden carpentry and sanitary facilities renovations frame contracts, overseeing budget, quality, schedule and safety control.
  • Utilise other service and frame contracts (civil works, painting, roofing, metallic structure, etc).
  • Periodically report on and document your activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of civil engineering or a related field.

Experience:

The experience required for this post is:

  • Demonstrated civil engineering experience in the execution and/or supervision of interior works.
  • Extensive experience in the maintenance and operation of buildings or civil engineering infrastructures.
  • Proven experience in coordinating multi-technical trades.

The following will be considered an asset:

  • Experience in large sites in the industrial and/or scientific environments.
  • Experience in renovation of sanitary facilities.
  • Experience in concrete/steel structure works

Technical competencies:

  • Knowledge of building construction, consolidation and renovation.
  • Maintenance management.
  • Negotiating with external suppliers and service contract providers.
  • Cost control.
  • Use of office software packages: excel, MS project.

Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language.
