Junior Systems Test Engineer (M/F)
Context
As part of the development of advanced optical communication technologies for space applications, our client is strengthening its R&D teams in Lausanne.
We are looking for a Junior Systems Test Engineer (M/F) to contribute to the testing, validation and integration of components and subsystems used in free-space optical communication architectures.
This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on R&D activities and wants to work at the heart of advanced technologies, combining cleanroom testing, sophisticated instrumentation, system integration and potentially on-field activities.
📌 Your role
As a Junior Systems Test Engineer, you will contribute directly to the testing and validation of optical, RF, optomechanical, hardware and software components and subsystems.
You will initially support test activities and gradually gain autonomy, with the opportunity to lead small to medium-sized test campaigns.
You will work in a multidisciplinary and international environment focused on innovative space communication technologies.
Tasks
🎯 Responsibilities
🔹 Testing & Validation- Execute predefined test campaigns in cleanroom and/or field environments.
- Test and validate components and subsystems.
- Perform validation against internal requirements, compliance matrices and vendor/partner specifications.
- Contribute to optical, RF, hardware/software and end-to-end testing activities.
- Mount and configure test setups.
- Operate advanced optical, optomechanical, RF and hardware/software instrumentation.
- Work with telescopes and other specialized test equipment.
- Contribute to test automation activities where applicable.
- Support subsystem integration activities.
- Participate in the integration of optical, RF, optomechanical and electronic components.
- Contribute to cleanroom maintenance and operational activities.
- Write detailed test reports.
- Document test results and technical findings.
- Track validation against predefined requirements.
- Support formal and informal technical reviews.
- Support Proof-of-Concept activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methodologies and processes.
- Gradually take ownership of small to medium-sized test campaigns.
Requirements
💼 Your profile- Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong interest in one or more of the following areas:
- Satcom and payload architectures
- Lasers and optomechanics
- Mechatronics
- Hardware / Software
- Python
- Cleanroom testing
- Optical and RF instrumentation
- Test automation
- Low-noise and low-vibration environments
- Previous industrial experience is a plus.
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
- Hands-on mindset and interest in experimental R&D environments.
- Strong interest in space programs and high-throughput optical laser communication technologies.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
- Swiss or EU-27 citizenship required.
- Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary and international environment.

💥 Recruitment process
