Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) is in constant evolution. We are now looking for a highly motivated associate who will contribute to the development and application of human-relevant bioassays.

The Opportunity

The Intern will join our Ophthalmology Discovery Department located in Basel, Switzerland. This group has a robust early development portfolio in both retinal and anterior segment diseases and works closely with internal and external experts across many specialties.

During the internship, your tasks will include:

  • Plan and perform in vitro experiments with cells and organoids, in close collaboration with your mentors and laboratory team.
  • Run biochemical, functional and immunofluorescence assays in multiple cell lines.
  • Regular discussion with your mentors and network to advance the project.
  • Summarise your findings for presentation to peers and the broader research community, potentially in a publication.
Who You Are
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program at a university, with a focus on cell biology, molecular biology and biotechnology.
  • Hands-on experience in high-throughput cell plating.
  • Basic capabilities in data analytics. Familiarity with Python coding is an added benefit.
  • Experience in tissue staining and image analysis is a plus.
  • Highly collaborative mindset; comfortable working in a team setting and in a multifunctional and multicultural environment.
  • Self-motivated and independent problem solver, with focused planning abilities.
