Principal Mechanical Engineer for new medical device development (m/f/d)
As a first-tier supplier to our renowned business partner, Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, we are immediately seeking a motivated and dedicated Principal Mechanical Engineer for new medical device development for a temporary assignment of one year with the possibility of extension.
The department Mechanical Engineering (DSRNCB) is looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to strengthen their cross-functional mechanical team. Join them on the journey to develop the next generation of Blood Gas & Electrolytes (BG/E) Analyzer.
Tasks- Take on responsibility, actively promote the tasks in a matrix organized project with external development partners and focus on your own work packages.
- Participation in the definition of work packages, their estimation, planning, and implementation in a sprint-based agile environment, in close collaboration with product owners, scrum masters, architects, and developers.
- Conduct in all phases of mechanical development from feasibility studies through development, design review, unit testing, root cause analysis, bug fixing, and maintenance.
- Define and perform detailed engineering analysis, such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Tolerance Analysis, Simulations
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Execute technical reviews including different stakeholders from R&D, Operations, and Customer Support.
- Take over mission critical tasks and drive complex technical solution finding.
- Collect and document unit specifications from requirements in close collaboration with stakeholders ultimately leading to implementation.
- Min. Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Min. 8 years of relevant industry experience in a highly regulated environment, experience in MedTech is a plus.
- Long-term professional experience in material evaluation and design for manufacturing, -servicability, -substainability at an expert level.
- Long-term professional experience in injection molding design or plastic technologies at a superior level of proficiency, preferably from functional consumables with focus on cost-optimized larger series
- Profound experience in the development of complex medical mechatronic systems and implementation of specific components such as pumps, valves, actuators, sensors, temperature control elements and other parts
- Expertise in CAD for mechanical design (Solidworks is a MUST, combined with SAP), in compliance with ISO 8015 / Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS) for 2D drawings and 3D models
- Affinity for methodical and systematic approach in all phases of product development, as well as a solid understanding of physics and engineering fundamentals.
- Demonstrated success working in multidisciplinary teams and regulated environments.
- Ready to work in a fully agile and transparent environment.
- Strong technical project management personality who can independently lead external development partners and suppliers.
- The project language is English, fluency in English is a must, listening and reading comprehension in German is a plus.
