What you'll do:
As a Product Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for tactical, strategic, and day-to-day quality development for Viasat's Lausanne facility. This role will work with the Design and Development teams at our Lausanne office and enables a hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest quality and performance standards, while adhering to safety and regulatory requirements. You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing quality control processes, conducting product testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
The day-to-day:
- Provide mentorship to program management, engineering, and operations on quality planning and execution to fulfill the overall quality mission
- Team with Supply Chain to drive supplier excellence initiatives
- Resolve non-conforming material issues
- Manage ISO9001/AS9100 adherence audits, reviewing findings, reviewing Viasat procedures, and communicating status reports to upper management
- Ensuring Advanced Product Quality Planning is deployed across the New Product Development life cycle with quality built into the design, manufacturability, and serviceability
- Evaluate design, manufacturing, testing, and operational processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and risk mitigation strategies.
- Champion production validation and risk mitigation tools with suppliers with tools like Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) deliverables
- Ensuring the RCCA process provides prompt resolution and robust solutions to prevent a recurrence, focusing on mistake-proofing and process improvement
- Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, failure analyses, and corrective actions to ensure mission safety and performance.
What you'll need:
- 10+ years’ experience in quality, operations, and/or engineering in a development and manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Applied Sciences, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 3+ years leading teams, program or projects
- Space/Flight hardware development and manufacturing experience
- Excellent knowledge of AS9100, AS9102B, 9001 QMS or maintenance
- Knowledge of theory and principles of data analysis
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, read procedures and process guidelines, record and interpret data
- PLM tool knowledge, (such as Agile), as well as ERP systems, (such as Oracle)
- Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, (FMEA), 8D, 5 Why, etc.) and other failure analysis quality tools
- Must have ambition (the aim to learn and achieve personal advancement)
- Must display autonomy (ability to work independently with minimal direction)
- Demonstrate technical aptitude (ability to comprehend sophisticated technical topics and niche information)
- Ability to communicate and influence different stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Up to 20% travel (domestic and international)
- Be located within a 50-mile radius of Lausanne, Switzerland.

- 7+ years auditing suppliers and supporting new production introduction
- Hands-on manufacturing background in electro-mechanical assemblies
- Lead AS9001D auditor trained
- Detailed understanding of AS9102 and First Article Verification Process
- Understanding of IPC 610, IPC-620S, J-STD-001S, MIL-STD-883
