Location
This role is open globally, but location is set in Switzerland (Turgi) or Poland (Aleksandrow Lodzki). The work model is hybrid #LI-hybrid.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible for the Category Management of Traction Transformers, Battery Thermal Management Systems (BTMS) and Train Control Monitoring Systems (TCMS) used in the Converters and Traction Batteries produced by ABB’s Traction division.You will support the strategic needs of all locations of division Traction by defining the sourcing strategy, securing a suitable supplier base, negotiating pricing and contractual conditions and initiating cost reduction initiatives. You will collaborate closely with colleagues from Product Management, Engineering, Supplier Quality Management and Operative Procurement.
- Plan and implement sourcing strategies in line with the business strategy and ensuring that the supply base/suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements.
- Ensure identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers (focusing on quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability) in collaboration with the relevant functions (Supplier Quality Management, Product Management, Engineering) and in accordance with company policies.
- Negotiate pricing and sourcing frame agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renewing price lists.
- Escalate situations in case of supplier performance issues (availability, quality)
- Identify cost reduction or cost avoidance potential and trigger the necessary activities to materialize the potential savings in TCO, by working together with Product Management and/or Engineering to (re-)evaluate the design and the cost drivers.
- Manage the relationship with the suppliers as well as the relevant internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Business or Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in strategic Category and Sourcing Management with Electrical Components.
- Result-oriented, excellent negotiation and communication skills for stakeholder management.
- Team player to reach the optimal total cost of ownership.
- Fluency in English, knowledge of German is a plus.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the railway sector is preferred.
